The Big Bang Theory Vs. How I Met Your Mother

Hi All,

As a huge T.V. Junkie, My all time favorite shows right now are The Big Bang Theory and Entourage. I used to like How I Met Your Mother, but now the show just stinks. Seriously--- its not even funny anymore.

Big Bang Theory is one of the funniest shows out there right now-- mainly due to Sheldon, who is more or less like me.

Will comment more soon.

Why Can't We Be Good?

Last night, everything changed. My friends and I helped a druggie Woman get home--- it was clear that she didn't want us to call the cops (she was running from her boyfriend, who attacked her). The reason why is because she was hiiigggggghhhhh on Coke. So high she started talking about Star Trek. Yeah. By the way she said she was Christian. That explains a lot. Christians believe that Jesus died for their sins and then rose up the third day. But then this begs the question-- If Jesus really did die for everyone's sins, why can't we sin? Therefore Christians are free to do anything they want.

Just a side note, the Christian story is not unique, Innana (A Sumerian Goddess) was also crucified and resurrected the third day. The Sumerians used to worship her and this story goes back 1500 B.C.E

ANYWAYS-- this got me thinking-- why can't we be good? Why can't we NOT do drugs, drink, etc. Has society really begin to sink morally?

Recently I saw a very dark and depressing movie called Leaving Las Vegas. See this movie, it will make you appreciate your life. But this movie shows just how low both men and women get go here in America.

Also The woman continued to stay with her boyfriend-- even though she was being abused over and over and over. I just don't get it. Do women really like this kind of thing? I was told yes, Women really like the bad boys. However I always considered myself a good guy, nice to everyone who is nice to me. I remember the Quran has that in order to gain salvation you must have faith and do good works. And to me doing good works is being kind to others (as long as they are kind to me). I also remember the words of Prophet Muhammad telling to treat others good:

.......and Allah is merciful only to those of His slaves who are merciful (to others). (Bukarhi Volume 2, Book 23, Number 373)

If I keep treating Women badly, will they like me more? I certainly hope not, as in Islam we are told to treat women nicely:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah 's Apostle said, "Treat women nicely, for a women is created from a rib, and the most curved portion of the rib is its upper portion, so, if you should try to straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked. So treat women nicely." (Bukarhi Volume 4, Book 55, Number 548)

But the point of this is not to discuss religion (As I have promised not to discuss religion on this blog). Its the discuss the problem of evil within ourselves. What drives us to commit so much evil and bad towards others and how can it be controlled?

Life Changes, Friends Don't.

Yo. Ehteshaam Gulam here. Today I realized something important-- life will always change but your friends won't. What I mean by this is as time goes on you soon realize that

a) You can't get along with everyone on earth. There's always going to be some people who you just can't get along with even if your nice to them 24/7.

b) You can't save everyone.

c) As time goes on you realize who your real friends are and who your "fake" friends are.

Today made me realize A,B and C for one individual I was once very close with for 7 years. But now the friendship is gone as he has changed-- but this made me realize that sometimes things in life change-- but your real friends--- they don't. Thank Allah (God).

Ehteshaam Out.

Camping

Back from Camping, and still sore from the games and sports. I had much to do, including looking over a bunch of 18-19 year olds-- which was actually harder than it sounded like. Anyways it was fun and I had a good time. I went camping at Camp Ohyseia in Holly, Michigan.

Activities included:

Zip lining: Gliding from a harness.

Canoeing: Almost tipped over and fell--- and got splashed quite a lot.

Outdoor Dodgeball: I love dodgeball.

Soccer: I hate soccer.

Mission impossibe: It's a game in which you have to do a bunch of activities and avoid being hunted down by the reaper who will kill you if he touches you with flour. If you get touched then you have to wait for the medic to cure you. Very fun.

Overall I had a good time. Hope to do it next year.

Till next time,

Interesting Facts about Men and Women

Recently I downloaded a new App for my IPhone 3G--- Called Cool Facts (its free at the App store). Its one of my favorite apps. Anyways out of boredom, I was looking through these facts and found a lot of interesting facts about men and women (since these were the only consistent topics).

Here they are:

* A Chance of a woman having twins is increased after the age of 35. About 1 in 27 women will give birth to twins after this age. After 50 the chances of having twins is 1 in 9.

* Each year, apporoximately 250,000 American husbands are phyiscally attacked and beaten by their wives.

* At the age 70, more than 70% of men are still potent.

* Men laugh longer, louder, and more often than women.

* 90% of women who walk into a department store immediately turn to the right.

* Women buy four out of every 10 condoms sold.

* Women's hearts beat faster than mens.

* 80% of 10 year old girls in the U.S. go on a diet.

* Girls have more taste buds than boys.

* On average women can hear better than men.

and finally

Women have a slightly higher I.Q. than men. LOL.

Till next time guys,

Is How I met Your Mother getting better or worse?

I used to love the show How I met Your Mother. It was a funny and fresh sitcom. However now it seems to be getting boring and dull. For example the first two seasons (especially season 1) were really good. They were solid, funny and new. However Season three and four were just boring during most of their seasons. The ending of season three of How I Met Your Mother was good-- I liked where it was going-- however it got worse when it entered into season four. I'll comment some more in the future-- but does anyone else agree with me here?

Full Review of The Hangover

WOW. This movie is so good, I just saw it for the fourth time. It never gets old. It was directed by the same director as Old School (another funny movie) but the Hangover is much funnier and much more clever.

The movie is about three morons (Stu, Alan and Phil) who lose their best friend during a wild bachleor party in Las Vegas. The problem is that their friend Doug is getting married in 2 days-- so they have to find him and bring him back to L.A.

So Stu, Alan and Phil wake up after one wild night (we don't really get to see what happened) and their hotel room (in the Ceasers Palace) is literally trashed. There are stippers walking out, chickens all over the place and the room is completely trashed. When all three wake up they can't remember anything and like I said their friend is gone.

The reason why this movie works is because this movie is about adults who really shouldn't do what they did. There are a lot of these teen movies of teens partying, getting into problems and having girlfriend problems, etc, etc. But in this movie the guys are all about 40 years old-- they should know better. Thats what makes it so funny-- these adults get into major trouble and nobody is going to help them-- they are on their own. Funny.

I like Bradley Cooper here--- He usually plays a**holes (like in Wedding Crashers, etc) but here he is more likable, here he cares about his friends. The best part with him is when he tells his students (he plays a school teacher in this film) to bring 90 bucks for a fake feild trip and all the students do so-- but in reality he is taking their 90 bucks for the Vegas Trip. I thought that was very funny.

Ed Helms (Stu) is also great-- hes the one with brains-- kind of. His controlling and abusive girl friend is also funny-- the way he lets her take him-- man. And of course there is Zach Galifianakis playing a man child (Alan). But this character is my favriote-- he is just so bizarre. He is a retard here and almost everything he says will make you laugh.

Here I will list why the movie works so well:

* Its just 90 minutes-- not too bad.

* It always has something going down-- Either with Phil, Stu or Alan.

* Zach Galifianakis (Alan) steals the show. His character is hysterical. Almost every scene he is in is funny. I especially liked when he screamed "Hey there are Skittles in there!" and when he kicks a cell phone from the hands of a little boy.

* The pictures show what happened during the night of their bachelor party at the end---- and WOW.

If you haven't seen this movie, go see it. It is funniest movie I have seen this year.

FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS.

Why the Office Sucks

The American Office is probably one of the most boring shows ever. It just keeps going on and on, with no end in sight. Of course people have told me its the greatest show ever--- because it is so realistic. Not really. The Office is a fantasy--- No Boss of any company is Micheal Scott stupid. There's no way someone like that could get the position hes in. Moreover the Office is suppose to be a comedy--- yet it really isn't (I never really laughed at any of the jokes).

But what really pisses me off is people are saying how real it is, how great it is, and how its the greatest thing on TV right now. Well again, I completely disagree. And I'll get to why in a second.

First off, The Office is NOT original. Its actually a rip off of the U.K. Show The Office. Everybody knows that. And the U.K. Office, was the greatest TV show ever made. After watching the original version-- there is no better TV show (other than maybe LOST, but thats a different story). The U.K. Office was a love story for men--- it was a story of never giving up, never giving up hope--- it was a show that perfectly captured the people you work with. It was amazing from the first episode to the next-- very well made and very well written.

Of course the American Office has none of that-- and I'll get into that in the following posts.

Can Men and Women Just Be Friends

Recently I was going into some deep thinking about my past... and started to wonder Did I ever have any friends who were women? That to me was a difficult question, because I can't really say. If I did in the past, I no longer do now. However I do know that my best friends and other close friends are all men.

However this got me thinking-- Plantonic Friendships are they possible? Can a man and a woman just be friends and share all of life's joys and sorrows together without any romance getting involved? In the past I have certainly seen it. However in the past I always noticed something... its all about the people's race. In other words a White Woman will have many White Men for friends, a Black Women will have many Black Men as friends, A Brown Man will have many Brown Women friends, a Asian person will have Asian friends, an Arab, etc.

But in recent times now race is no longer much of a problem (although racism still exists in America) and now more men of differnce races and ethnicites are now becoming friends with women of differnet races and ethnicities. So going back to my original question--- is it possible for a man and woman to be friends? Maybe for most people. But for some men its just not possible, and sadly that is my case. Every women whom I have attempted to become friends with either left or betrayed me, leaving me in some loneiness and emptiness inside. But don't end up like me, its certainly possible if your a man to make friends and find comfort with a woman. It will provide something more than a close male friendship can offer.

Giving Up on Comic Book FanBoy Culture

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I have been away for a while. I have decided to give up on writing my own superhero movie-- after doing research on how Movies are written and developed, I am never going to get my screenplay made. Just view this documentary: Dreams on Spec. So, its never going to happen.

I have never really been a comic book fan-- but these fanboys are all over the place in America.. and man they scare the hell out of me. Just check out ComicCon, hundreds of these Comic Book fanboys go there and just talk about these fictional characters over and over. I just saw one the other day while I was in the mall-- he was checking out comic books at Borders and talking to the store worker about how he loves the latest Wolverine Comic. I was like "Holy Crap" if I continue down this fanboy culutre that's how I am going to end up like, alone with tons of comics, unopened action figures, all kinds of gaming systems from XBOX 360 to Playstation 3, having nothing to do in my spare time except collecting comics, playing games and just wasting away in a sad and lonely world of fantasy-- all while talking about how great the original Star Wars is. The very thought of that creeps the hell out of me.

So this is it, I am done with Fanboy Culutre as of now. Now I am interested in finshing undergrad, getting a job and proving the evidence of Islam to everyone. So long Comic Books, Video Games and Movies. Its time to put childish things aside.

Next Week: Can Men and Women be Friends? See My full thoughts Coming Soon!

SuperHeroes: The New Obession In HollyWood

There was a time when nobody wanted to do a "comic book" movie. Back in the day, these type of movies were frowned upon. Now every summer you get a new comic book movie. In 2000 We had X-men. Then we had Spider-Man in 2002. X-Men 2 and Hulk in 2003. Spider-Man 2 and The Punisher in 2004. 2005 we saw a new and rebooted Batman series called Batman Begins as well as the stinker Fantastic Four. In 2006 we saw X-Men 3 as well the boring Superman Returns. Then in 2007 we got the disappointing Spider-Man 3 as well as Fantastic Four 2 (this killed the series). Last year in 2008, We got at least four comic book based movies as well as a new Superhero movie. In 2008 we saw Hellboy 2, The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and finally Hancock (I'll get to Hancock in a minute). And this year we get stuff like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Watchmen, etc.

Millions of Americans see these movies. Comic Book Nerds and Geeks (there are literally millions of them in this country) and even people who never read a comic book in their entire lives see go to see this shit. It's good fun, special effects, shit blowing up, good guys vs the bad guys, etc. But what really makes me want to write my own Superhero Movie is the story of how the Will Smith superhero movie Hancock was made.

In 1996 a new comer screenwriter, Vy Vincent Ngo called a very dark story called Tonight, He Comes. The story about a sad and lonely Superman called Hancock was extremely well written, and everyone in Hollywood wanted to buy it. Finally in 2002 the script was sold. And know how much Mr.Ngo was paid? 4 Million dollars. Of course Hollywood compeltley ruined the screenplay-- and the adult superhero flik Tonight, He Comes became the train wreck of Hancock.

But this got me thinking-- what if I wrote my own superhero screenplay? Would I get paid the same amount if it was really good? Would it get made? That would be awesome if some producer or studio decided to buy my script-- but anways I am going to write a superhero movie. Its going to be called Tonight, Its Going To Be Epic. Hopefully then some hot shot producer would buy the screenplay or story rights and this will be made into a real movie (I wish). During the summer I will post the story in five parts. And if someone steals my idea-- so what-- at least it'll be made into a movie lol!!
